Tech E. Coyote is a decedent of Wile E. Coyote and appears in Loonatics Unleashed.
Background[]
Before gaining his powers, Tech was a student at the Acmetropolis University. Sometime before the impact he had been tasked with tutoring a young Mallory Casey, but he discovered a device she had been working on was designed to drain the intelligence of the various professors of the university and transfer it to her. Fortunately, Tech disabled her machine off before it could do any damage and called for police to take her away.
Seconds before the meteor impacted the city, Tech had been displaying another invention to one of his teachers, but was thrown out of the university thanks to the impatient teacher accidentally activating a self destruct system that Tech had installed in a device for "extra credit".
As a Hero[]
As a member of the Loonatics, Tech acts as the team's source of various crime fighting gadgets and vehicles, typically as the situation requires. The meteor's energy gifted him with magnetic manipulation powers as well as the ability to regenerate his body after being disintegrated or suffering injury (a likely reference to his ancestor's tendency to suffer grueling injuries yet rapidly recover).
Tech also has naturally high intelligence, but appeared to be as accident-prone as his ancestor during flashbacks to his college days (this prompted one of his teachers to say out of frustration, "I used to think you [Tech] were a mad genius, now I think you're just mad!"). Since the meteor, his intelligence seems to have increased considerably, or perhaps it's just that practice makes perfect, as his inventions (nearly) always work. He was quite smart before, however, as Mallory (in the episode Master Mind) said, "You [Tech]' taught me everything I know," and she is very smart.
Trivia[]
- Tech seems quite attached to his inventions, referring to them as "his babies" and expressing great distress when they are destroyed.
- Tech, oddly, appears to be good friends with Rev Runner, the descendant of his ancestor's rival Road Runner, though the two do bicker from time to time.
- While Tech's gadgets more or less work, his traps do not. This is demonstrated in Enter the Pinkster and The Cape Duck, where both of his traps catastrophically failed to capture the villians.
- Tech's gaining his powers while still in collage and refusing to sell inventions to Ralph Runner is perhaps a nod to Wile E. Coyote's introduction of himself to Bugs Bunny in Operation: Rabbit
